In Britain, a rise in the VAT is looming whichever party wins the general election, as Labour and the Conservatives draw up plans to balance Britain’s books. Alistair Darling and George Osborne, the Shadow Chancellor, are both considering raising VAT to as high as 20 per cent (the European average) from the current extortionist rate of 17.5 per cent. I can see no end in sight for this perfidy in our Anglo-Saxon soul mate.
Every year, more and more "subjects" are being paid to work (or not) by the government; but fewer and fewer "subjects" are producing the capital needed to support this majority. It's an unsustainable adventure in european socialism. Of course taxes will increase! The few that produce will have to pay more to support the majority. Taxes will increase until all capital leaves the country and the workers left behind will necessarily become government dependents, and then what? The fall of Rome....again? As you will see, the Brits will accept the inevitablity of the tax increases because their passion for individual liberty is being slowly sucked away. If they listen carefully, they will hear the great sucking sound coming from the continent. This is exactly what Obama wants for America.
